How much does a good SUP board cost?

Wie viel kostet ein gutes SUP Board?
Providers of affordable SUP boards are currently popping up like mushrooms. You can buy SUP boards in every discount store and every hardware store, which is why we receive numerous inquiries and calls asking what distinguishes these cheap SUP boards from good SUP boards and how much a good SUP board costs. Therefore, we have taken this as an opportunity to explain the difference in inflatable SUP boards.

Differences between cheap SUPs vs. brand SUPs

Cheap SUP boards are available in the price range between €200 and €300, but these SUP boards have decisive disadvantages compared to boards from brand manufacturers such as GLORY Boards.
Very cheap SUP boards are usually very thin; this difference is very clear when paddlers with different SUP boards gather on the water.
Cheap SUPs bend, you stand with your feet in the water and can barely move. These SUP boards are more like an air mattress than a sports device. An inflatable brand SUP board is sufficiently thick and stable, so you don't stand with both feet in the water, and a good SUP board also does not bend. Even in warm water temperatures, it is unpleasant to stand with your feet in the water for a long time; in cold water temperatures, it is unthinkable.
Good SUP boards are stable and allow the paddler to move quickly on the water. You glide much better over the water, and a good SUP board has a perfectly cut shape that has already established itself.
In addition, the seams and glue connections are better processed, and the colors of the SUP boards do not fade as quickly.
However, please note that you should not expose a SUP board to direct sunlight for a long time, as this can damage the board and, in the worst case, it can burst.
SUP boards from brand manufacturers such as GLORY Boards come with proper accessories, a backpack that makes the SUP board comfortable to carry, premium valves are installed on the board, and high-quality hand pumps are included, which do not unnecessarily complicate manual inflation.

What should I look for when buying a good SUP board?

Before buying your SUP board, get sufficient advice and test various boards to see the differences. Also test the different board variants, because a Touring SUP board might meet your requirements better than an Allround board. Only when directly comparing a cheap SUP board with a branded SUP will the differences become obvious.
Before buying, pay attention to the quality of workmanship and ask the salesperson to explain the advantages of the SUP board and how it was made. The more information and details you receive about the respective SUP board, the easier it will be to make your purchase decision.
The question often arises as to how much a good SUP board should cost. It is always difficult to commit to a specific amount, but you should expect to spend around €500 to get a decent, inflatable stand up paddle board of your own.
