SUP Trends 2024: Stand Up Paddling News and Developments
2023 was a challenging, turbulent and completely unpredictable year for all of us. The enthusiasm for stand-up paddling remains unbroken for many people and received another big boost in 2023 due to various factors. Many people spent their vacations and free time at home and in the surrounding area and discovered how great it is to explore the area by SUP board! Others appreciate the high training factor of stand-up paddling and the opportunity to let off steam in the fresh air with a lot of fun. The SUP board has also become an indispensable part of many families' trips to the lake.
2024 will once again be an exciting SUP year, and Glory Boards also has a lot of news and developments in store. These SUP trends will accompany us in 2024!
SUP Trend: Sit-on-top paddling or using the SUP as a kayak
The detachable kayak seat, which can be mounted on Glory Boards "Fun", "Trip" and "Cross" using 4 D-rings, for example, has made it easier or even possible for many people to get started with stand-up paddling. Due to back injuries, some people can or prefer to paddle sitting down - the kayak seat makes this possible in just a few simple steps. All you need now is a double paddle and you can use your SUP board like a kayak! This type of paddling is becoming increasingly popular, especially with families, dog owners and people with back problems. The paddle blade, which can be retrofitted at any time, also fits all our paddles.
SUP Trend: Wingsurfing or Wingfoiling
You have probably seen one or two "wingfoilers" or "wingsurfers" at the lake or on the coast last summer. This young sport has only existed for just under two years and is currently undergoing rapid development. The idea for wings is not new, but it was only through foiling that a large area of application for wings emerged, and manufacturers took the idea out of the drawer and further developed it.
The wing is a small, inflatable kite that is made in a similar way to a kite. In combination with a wingfoil board, a skate or mountain board, a snowboard or a SUP board, you can use the wing on water or on land. The wide range of applications, easy handling and small pack size make the wing very interesting for many recreational athletes.
The Glory Boards team has invested a lot of time in the development of a wing over the last 12 months and we are very excited to see how you like the Glory Wing! We will keep you informed as soon as the Glory Wing is available in the online shop.
SUP Trend: Stand Up Paddling with a dog
Man's best friend is also a great leisure partner. Many dogs love the water and more and more paddlers want to take their four-legged companions with them when stand up paddling. In principle, you should only take your dog with you if you can paddle safely yourself. A dog at the bow of the SUP board can throw you off balance if it moves - you should be prepared for this. In 2023, we designed and tested a lot and incorporated our customers' feedback into our further development. In 2024, you can therefore look forward to some new products and innovations and we are happy to give you a little "sneak peek" of the SUP trends 2024 at Glory Boards!
New Glory Boards Paddles "Stroke" and "Enjoy"
The Glory Boards "Stroke" will expand our SUP paddle range in 2024! The full carbon paddle not only looks good but is also available at an absolute top price of only €199. Like all Glory Boards SUP paddles, the "Stroke" also features the popular ergonomic T-handle, is twist-proof and is particularly suitable for beginners and intermediates. We will inform you on our social media channels as soon as the "Stroke" is available in the Glory Boards SUP shop and at selected stand-up paddle stations and dealers!
The Glory Boards "Enjoy" is also a new addition to the carbon SUP range! Thanks to its carbon shaft, this SUP paddle is very light and the perfect choice for SUP beginners and occasional paddlers. The Glory Boards "Enjoy" SUP paddle will be available for €99 from Glory Boards from 2024. This will then also be the cheapest carbon paddle in our range.
Composite SUP Fin
From 2024, our accessories range will include a high-quality slide-in composite fin that you can use for SUP boards with a slide-in fin box. Composite fins give your SUP board's characteristics the "finishing touch". The Glory Boards composite fin is very stiff and therefore ensures very good straight-line tracking at high speeds. The honeycomb construction offers high stability and ensures that the fin is very light. The Glory Boards composite fin is particularly suitable for touring and race boards!
New color for Cross, Fun and Trip
The "Fun" and "Trip" are among the most popular SUP boards at Glory Boards - and in 2020 the new "Cross" took your heart by storm! The "Cross" is the most popular all-round board for families, as its light touring shape makes it very suitable for longer tours, but also offers enough space to take a child with you on the front of the board. The Cross is also available with a windsurfing function and both "Cross", "Trip" and "Fun" have a kayak function for easy attachment of a kayak seat.
In 2024, these three SUP models will be available in a new color! Strong azure blue expands the color palette of these three SUP boards, which will be delivered in the following colors from 2024:
"Cross": Blue, Orange, Mint and Green (Windsurf option)
"Fun": Blue, Pink, Mint
"Trip": Blue, Pink, Mint
