SUP Trends 2021: Stand Up Paddling News and Developments

SUP Trends 2021: Stand Up Paddling News und Entwicklungen
The year 2020 was a challenging, turbulent and entirely unpredictable year for all of us. Enthusiasm for Stand Up Paddling remains unbroken for many people and, due to various factors, received another big boost in 2020. Many people spent their holidays and leisure time at home and in the immediate vicinity and discovered how great it is to explore the surroundings on a SUP board! Others appreciate the high training factor of Stand Up Paddling and the opportunity to burn off energy in the fresh air while having a lot of fun. For many families, the SUP board has also become an indispensable part of trips to the lake.
2021 will be another exciting SUP year, and there is also plenty of news and further development at Glory Boards. These SUP trends will accompany us in 2021!
SUP Trend: Sit-on-top paddling or using your SUP as a kayak
The detachable kayak seat, which can be mounted using 4 D-rings on the Glory Boards "Fun", "Trip" and "Cross" models, for example, has simplified the entry into Stand Up Paddling for many people or made it possible in the first place. Due to back injuries, some people prefer or need to paddle while sitting – the kayak seat makes this possible in just a few simple steps. Now all you need is a double paddle, and you can use your SUP board like a kayak! Especially among families, dog owners and people with back problems, this way of paddling is becoming increasingly popular. Our paddle blade, which can be retrofitted at any time, also fits all our paddles.

SUP Trend: Wing surfing or wing foiling

You’ve surely seen one or two "wing foilers" or "wing surfers" on the lake or at the coast last summer. This young sport has only been around for almost two years and is currently experiencing rapid development. The idea for wings is not new, but it was only through foiling that a large area of application for wings emerged, leading manufacturers to pull the idea out of the drawers and develop it further.
The wing is a small, inflatable kite manufactured similarly to a kite. In combination with a wing foil board, a skate or mountain board, a snowboard or a SUP board, you can use the wing on water or on land. The wide range of applications, simple handling and small pack size make the wing very interesting for many recreational athletes.
The Glory Boards team has invested a lot of time in the development of a wing over the last 12 months, and we are very excited to see how you like the Glory Wing! We will keep you updated on when the Glory Wing will be available in the online shop.

SUP Trend: Stand Up Paddling with a dog

Man's best friend is also a great leisure partner. Many dogs love the water, and more and more paddlers want to have their four-legged companions with them while Stand Up Paddling. Generally, you should only take your dog with you once you are able to paddle safely yourself. A dog on the bow of your SUP board can throw you off balance if it moves – you should be prepared for that. In our article, you will find many tips on what to keep in mind when Stand Up Paddling with a dog.
In 2021, you can look forward to a brand-new Glory Boards SUP, on which your four-legged friend can accompany you while paddling! We will announce all information about the new PAW as soon as possible!

The 2021 SUP trends at Glory Boards

We spent a lot of time in 2020 designing, testing, and incorporating feedback from our customers into our further development. In 2021, you can therefore look forward to some new products and innovations, and we are pleased to be able to give you a little "sneak peek" at the 2021 SUP trends at Glory Boards!

New Glory Boards paddles "Stroke" and "Enjoy"

The Glory Boards "Stroke" expands our SUP paddle range in 2021! The full carbon paddle not only looks good but is also available at an absolute top price of only € 199. Like all Glory Boards SUP paddles, the "Stroke" also features the popular ergonomic T-grip, is twist-proof and is particularly suitable for beginners and those looking to advance. We will inform you on our social media channels as soon as the "Stroke" is available in the Glory Boards SUP shop and at selected Stand Up Paddle stations and dealers!
The Glory Boards "Enjoy" is also a new addition to the carbon SUP range! Thanks to the carbon shaft, this SUP paddle is very light and the perfect choice for SUP beginners and occasional paddlers. The Glory Boards "Enjoy" SUP paddle will be available from Glory Boards starting in 2021 for € 99. It will then be the most affordable carbon paddle in our range.

Composite SUP fin

In our accessories range, you will find a high-quality slide-in composite fin starting in 2021, which you can use for SUP boards with slide-in fin boxes. Composite fins provide the "finishing touch" to the characteristics of your SUP board. The Glory Boards composite fin is very stiff and therefore ensures excellent straight-line tracking at high speeds. The honeycomb construction offers high stability and ensures that the fin is very lightweight. The Glory Boards composite fin is particularly suitable for touring and race boards!

New color for Cross, Fun, and Trip

Among the most popular SUP boards at Glory Boards are the "Fun" and "Trip" – and in 2020, the new "Cross" took your hearts by storm! The "Cross" is the most popular all-round board for families, as its light touring shape makes it very suitable for longer trips, while also offering enough space to take a child along on the front part of the board. The Cross is also available with a windsurfing function, and "Cross", "Trip", and "Fun" all feature a kayak function to easily attach a kayak seat.
In 2021, these three SUP models are available in a new color! Vibrant azure blue expands the color palette of these three SUP boards, which will be delivered in the following colors starting in 2021:
"Cross": Blue, Orange, Mint, and Green (windsurf option)
"Fun": Blue, Pink, Mint
"Trip": Blue, Pink, Mint
