Stand Up Paddle Boards for women: What you need to look out for

Stand up paddling is a sport everyone loves: from young to old, there is a suitable board and the right conditions for everyone. In recent years, you can see more and more women on SUP boards, and we are happy that more and more female paddlers are joining our SUP tours and excursions.

Women may have different requirements for stand up paddle boards and paddles, which is why in this article we report on which equipment is particularly suitable for women.

Anyone who weighs less can use a smaller stand up paddle board. Most inflatable SUP boards can easily handle two people, but the larger the board, the harder it is to maneuver. Women who weigh less can therefore certainly opt for a smaller board.

In addition, a smaller SUP board offers the advantage that it is lighter and thus easier to carry to the water. Two to three kilograms less makes a significant difference when it comes to carrying the inflated board with one hand.

Last but not least: the look! We trust the feedback from our Glory Boards community: turquoise and pink SUP boards are very popular among female paddlers!

Our stand up paddle board recommendation for women:

The Glory Boards "Yoga" SUP board in the 11'0" size was specifically designed for women. The special shape of this SUP board is not only suitable for SUP yoga, but also cuts a fine figure as an all-round board on the lakes! Visually, the Yoga SUP board is quite an eye-catcher in vibrant turquoise. At only nine kilograms, the "Yoga" is a lightweight among SUP boards and can be carried to the water effortlessly. Our "Fun" and "Trip" SUP boards are also very popular among women!

SUP paddles for women: Blade size matters!

The principle for SUP paddles is quite simple: the larger the blade, the more strength you have to exert to pull it through properly. If you choose a paddle blade that is too large, it will tire your arms out quite quickly and potentially spoil the fun of stand up paddling. With a suitable paddle blade, paddling is much easier and you will also make progress faster. With a paddle blade that is too large, you place undue strain on your joints and may even develop poor paddling posture because you have to exert yourself excessively with every stroke.

Our paddle recommendation for women:

The Cracky paddle from our Glory Boards paddle range was developed especially for women! The blade is smaller and is therefore easier to pull through the water. In addition, the Cracky SUP paddle weighs only 650 grams and features an ergonomically shaped handle!
Our final tip: If you have trouble inflating the SUP board – this is difficult for both men and women, especially during those last few pumps – take a look at our electric SUP pumps and the annoying inflation process will no longer be a problem!
