Is my SUP suitable for saltwater?

Ist mein SUP salzwassertauglich?

The topic that interests every passionate stand-up paddler: Is my SUP saltwater-resistant?

In this short article, you'll learn everything you need to know about saltwater care for your Glory Boards SUP.

Why is saltwater care important?

Saltwater can be a real challenge for your SUP if it's not properly maintained. Corrosion (for metal parts) and material wear due to drying out (PVC)  can become problems. Therefore, it's important to treat your board appropriately after saltwater excursions to ensure its longevity.

Steps for caring for your Glory Boards SUP in saltwater

1. Rinse with fresh water:

A thorough rinse with fresh water after a day in saltwater is recommended to remove salt deposits. This is especially important before winter storage to remove the accumulated salt layer. Otherwise, your board will remain damp over the winter and start to smell musty.

2. Dry before storing:

Whether in fresh or saltwater, it is important  to let your SUP dry thoroughly before storing it for a longer period, to prevent mold growth.

3. Clean the paddles:

Don't forget to clean your paddles as well, especially the stainless steel parts, to prevent rust. A thorough cleaning after each saltwater use is advisable!

4. Maintain:

You can imagine the PVC of your board like our skin. After a day in the sun and saltwater, the skin craves care and moisture. The same applies to your SUP. It is best to treat the PVC with our rich care product after contact with saltwater, so it remains soft and supple, color-intensive, and you can enjoy it for a long time.
